Detention Facility Notary

Jail Signings in Riverside, CA

If someone you love is in custody and needs a document notarized, I’ll work with the facility directly to get it done. No guesswork, no runaround — just a clear process from the first phone call.

What I Help With

Getting Documents Signed When Someone Can’t Walk Into an Office

When someone is in custody, they can’t just stop by a notary office. I call the facility, find out their visitation and notary policy, and schedule a time that works within their rules — whether that’s Robert Presley Detention Center downtown, Larry D. Smith in Banning, or one of the other Riverside County facilities.

Most requests come from a family member or an attorney trying to get a Power of Attorney or affidavit signed before a deadline. I keep the family updated at each step, since this process can be confusing if you’ve never dealt with it before.

Power of Attorney

Lets a spouse, parent, or trusted person manage bills, property, or accounts while someone is in custody.

Affidavits & Declarations

Sworn statements needed for an active court case or a family matter outside the facility.

Court Filings

Declarations and supporting paperwork that have to be notarized before they can be filed.

Consent & Custody Forms

Signed permissions for a child’s care, school enrollment, or travel while a parent is incarcerated.

How It Works

From Your Call to the Signed Document

You Call or Text Me

Tell me the facility, the person’s full name and booking number if you have it, and what needs to be signed.

I Contact the Facility

I find out their current notary visitation policy — some require advance approval, others allow walk-ins on certain days.

We Confirm a Time

Once I know the facility’s rules, I’ll give you a realistic window for when the visit can happen.

I Complete the Notarization

I verify identity the way the facility requires and finish the notarial certificate before I leave.

Common Questions

Jail Signings FAQs

Which facilities do you go to?

I’ve worked with Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. If you need a different Riverside County facility, call me and I’ll find out if a visit is possible.

How do you verify who I'm signing for?

The facility handles identity verification on their end since the person in custody won’t have a typical ID with them. I follow whatever process that specific facility requires.

How far ahead do I need to schedule?

It depends on the facility. Some allow next-day visits, others need 48 hours or more. I’ll tell you exactly what to expect once I call them.

Can an attorney request this instead of family?

Yes, and a lot of my requests come through attorneys. Either way works — I just need the same information about the person and the document.

What if the facility says no notaries are allowed that day?

It happens occasionally, especially during lockdowns. If that’s the case, I’ll let you know right away and we’ll find the next available window.
